Liebe Community,
Was ist passiert?
Daniele
Dear Community,
Our Community platform provider (Gainsight) has temporarily switched off file uploads in the community as a precaution. The reason is that two security vulnerabilities were disclosed in PHP, a programming language that runs around 70% of websites. You may have seen it in the news.
ℹ️ This concerns the Personio Community platform only, not the Personio Product.
What’s affected in the Community
You can’t attach files to posts, add inline images or change your profile picture. Reading, posting and replying work as usual.
What happens next
Uploads return once the update is in place and verified. We’ll update this post as soon as we know more, and you can follow live progress on the provider’s status page.
What happened, in plain words
Think of PHP as the engine under the hood of many websites. Two serious security flaws were found in that engine itself, and the PHP team released an update to fix them on 21 October. Because the flaws are in PHP and not in any one website’s own code, they affect a large part of the internet, not just our community. Our provider switched off file uploads as a precaution and added further protections while the update is applied and checked. As of 21 October, the provider has found no sign that the flaws were used to attack its platform and has not seen any impact on your data.
Best,
Daniele
