Time Off: Configuring carry-forward limits and tenure-based leave entitlements

Hi All,

I am creating a new Vacation Leave time-off type with an annual entitlement of 18 days per year (January to December). When an employee joins on 6 June, the leave entitlement should be 10.5 days based on monthly proration. However, the system is assigning only 9 days.

Could you please help me understand why this is happening and whether there is any configuration that needs to be adjusted?

Hi @Shashikiran ,

Everything that @SabbuSchreiber said is correct!

This is all configurable in the Time Off settings. 😊

Once you've created your Annual Leave time off type, you can create individual policies within it. Each policy allows you to configure entitlements, carry-over rules, tenure-based entitlements, as well as pro-ration and rounding settings, so you can tailor everything to match your company's policies.

This Help Center article provides a great overview of all the available settings:

I hope this helps! 😊

I have created such a policy in my account and attached you the screenshots here:

Have a wonderful day 😊

Hi @Daniele

I would like to create a leave type with the following configuration:

  • Annual Leave Entitlement: 18 days per year, applicable from January to December.
  • Carry Forward: A maximum of 5 unused days should be carried forward to the following year's leave balance.
  • Recurring Process: This carry-forward process should repeat every year. For example:
    • Annual Entitlement: 18 days
    • Carry Forward: Maximum 5 days
    • Total Available Balance: 23 days

At the end of December, only a maximum of 5 unused days should be carried forward to the next year's balance. Any remaining unused leave above 5 days should expire.

Additionally, once an employee completes 3 years of service, they should receive 1 additional day of leave, increasing their annual entitlement from 18 days to 19 days. This increased entitlement should apply from the 4th year of service onwards.

Could you please let me know how this can be configured in the system?
